Welcome to DAPP Zimbabwe Our History and Activities. Development Aid from People to People is a registered welfare organisation, registration number WO/22/80. DAPP as an organisation is there to foster development where necessary not considering how much it takes but believe in work done by the people, coming from the people and dedicated to the people. The history of DAPP in Zimbabwe dates back from the 80’s when the country gained independence, where much emphasis was on reconstruction and reconciliation of the country. Over the years development have taken place in the country which has also seen DAPP starting up new projects specifically targeting the improvement of the living conditions of the marginalized and dehumanized society. In its 30 years of existence the organization has grown to a capacity of over 500 staff members with 15 projects in 5 provinces of the country. These are Manicaland, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East, Harare and Mashonaland West. Development Aid from People to People in Zimbabwe is making its mark through grassroots based projects in the areas of improving rural livelihoods by building the capacity of communal farmers as well as small scale farmers to increase their yield through practicing good farming practices and increasing their income by engaging in commercial enterprise. In the area of HIV and AIDS, the organization has two innovative approaches called Total Control of the Epidemic (TCE) and Hope. In addition to this there are educational projects, Ponesai Vanhu Junior School, a Children’s town project practicing institutional care of former street children and Technical college, which is a vocational skills training center offering courses in horticulture, business studies and motor mechanics and Child Aid which ensures better welfare for the child through developing the community in which the child lives. DAPP in Zimbabwe is also the co-founder member of the Federation of Associations connected to the International Humana People to People Movement which has a membership of 42 Countries worldwide. |
