A significant step towards strengthening Zimbabwe's agricultural future was taken when TN Holdings Founder and Chairman, Mr. Tawanda Nyambirai, visited DAPP Zimbabwe's Farmers' Clubs Project in Hwedza. The engagement has paved the way for a potential partnership focused on empowering smallholder farmers, enhancing food security, and promoting sustainable community development.

A visit by TN Holdings Founder and Chairman, Mr. Tawanda Nyambirai, to DAPP Zimbabwe's Farmers' Clubs Project in Hwedza on the 8th of July 2026 has laid the foundation for a potential partnership to strengthen community development and sustainable agriculture in Zimbabwe.

Mr. Nyambirai led a delegation comprising TN Cybertech Bank Chief Executive Officer Mr. Hazvinei Kapfunde, Head of Lending Mr. David Mapangela and Head of Marketing, Innovation, ESG and Research Mrs. Sisa Sibanda. They were accompanied by DAPP Zimbabwe Country Director Mr. Soda, Resource Mobilisation Manager Mr. Karingamupembe, Communications Officer Ms. Kamungere and Ms. Marie Lichtenberg from Planet Aid USA, representing Humana People to People International, of which DAPP Zimbabwe is a member. Together, the delegation engaged with project staff, farmers and community leaders to explore opportunities for collaboration in advancing sustainable agriculture, climate resilience and rural livelihoods.

The visit focused on the Farmers' Clubs Hwedza Project, which supports 1,000 smallholder farmers through funding support from the GAIA USA Movement. The project equips farmers with practical skills in climate-smart agriculture, agribusiness, financial literacy, water management and community organisation, enabling them to improve food security, household incomes and resilience while placing communities at the centre of their own development.

The delegation began at the DAPP Zimbabwe Hwedza office with a presentation on the Farmers' Clubs approach before travelling to Ward 10's Makurumire Village. There, members of the 13-member Chemwaya Club Core Group showcased a thriving nutritional garden producing organically grown vegetables, tomatoes, onions, covo and cabbages. The farmers explained how vegetable production has improved household nutrition while creating a reliable source of income.

Impressed by the group's commitment, Mr. Nyambirai pledged support for its expansion through the provision of a tractor, borehole and perimeter fencing. Community leaders also committed approximately three hectares of land to enable the garden to grow.

The delegation later visited Muroiwa Village in Ward 5, where a 10-member Farmers' Club Core Group demonstrated how Internal Savings and Lending Schemes (ISALs), horticulture and small livestock production have strengthened household livelihoods. Farmers also showcased innovations including beekeeping, which has created new income streams through honey, candles, beeswax products and propolis, alongside biochar technology that improves soil fertility, boosts crop yields and enhances resilience to climate change. Inspired by the group's progress and potential, Mr. Nyambirai pledged US$50,000 towards a revolving business fund to support the expansion of the Core Group initiative.
