Strengthening Civil Society Regional Partnerships in favour of the ratification of the African Disability Protocol (ADP)

We are co-implementing a 30-month project funded by the European Union (EU) through Leonard Cheshire Disability Zimbabwe (LCDZ) to address challenges faced by people with disabilities in Africa, including issues of harmful practices and the need for locally-led disability policies in four districts; Bindura and Shamva in Mashonaland Central Province and Mudzi and Murehwa in Mashonaland East Province.

WOur goal is to help 2,400 People With Disabilities (PWD) in Zimbabwe to attain their human rights and freedoms as outlined in the African Disability Protocol (ADP).

WOur objectives are simple, (1) to strengthen Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), (2) to empower OPDs to engage with the government and (3) to ensure that the diverse needs and perspectives of the disability community, particularly the youth and women, are reflected in national and local policy decisions.

WThe project adopted a sustainable approach to community development, focusing on PWDs' improved health, food security, education and improved economies in a safe environment to ensure that all PWDs have equal opportunities.
